Sea’s health in a drop

Scientists are working to obtain the genetic sequence of phytoplankton to discover which species compose it and which of them live in every water, either pristine or polluted. These new technologies will enable the development of kits to analyze the sea’s health just with a drop of water.

Mejoras en el estudio de la toxicidad de metales en microorganismos marinos y microalgas que secuestran plomo

Investigadoras del CSIC han participado en un trabajo en el que se ha caracterizado una nueva microalga denominada DE2009, que presenta una mayor capacidad de secuestrar el plomo que otros microorganismos estudiados hasta ahora. El estudio, que abre nuevas vías a la bioremediación, tenía como objetivo desarrollar un método para determinar el efecto tóxico de los metales pesados más rápido y preciso.
