Mass production of nanoparticles for plasmonics

Scientists of the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Barcelona (IMB-CNM) and of the University of Barcelona have developed a novel technique to obtain nanoparticles tuning their size and their position on a surface. The method opens possibilities for new developments in plasmonics.

Awarded projects of the fourth edition of Generating Ideas Programme

The projects 2D EDGE i OISensing, led by scientists of the ICN2 and the ICMAB-CSIC, have been awarded the first and second prize of the fourth edition of the Generating Ideas Programme, organised by the UAB Research Park.

Artificial intelligence for improving online learning

Music Circle, a social platform for musical learning, has been developed within the frame of the European project PRAISE. Other advanced tools for online learning have also been developed, enabling improvements like the exchange of opinions between the users and a better assessment of the student work.

Graphene nanofluids for faster batteries

Scientists from the CSIC and ICN2 have developed a new type of fluids with graphene and other carbon nanoparticles for energy storage in flow-cells. The nanofluids can be used in applications that require high power and medium energy densities.

Method to characterize chips without touching them

New technique based on thermography enables a fast and contacless characterization of the wireless electronic components of the radiofrequency identification systems, like contactless credit cards and similar.

A low-cost photonic microchip with integrated light source for analyzing liquids

Scientists at the CSIC’s Instituto de Microelectrónica Barcelona have developed a photonic microchip which, for the first time, integrates a light source. By making use of a robust and flexible technology, this microchip can measure color changes in liquids with high accuracy. Its applicability ranges from biomedical analysis to food safety or environmental applications.

Workday on microsensors and opportunities in biodiagnosis

On Friday 19th June, the Group of Chemical Transducers at the CSIC’s Microelectronics Institute of Barcelona organizes a session to show the opportunities of microsensors in the field of bio-diagnosis. Participation is free but registration is required.

Multifunctional microchips adapted to demand

Scientists at the CSIC and the University of Barcelona have obtained microchips, which can be placed inside living cells or liquids to simultaneously detect several parameters. The developed technology enables the adaptation of the microchips according to the demand of customers.
