Researchers at the CSIC and at the companie Ikerlan have developed new microneedles for neural applications.
Using the SU-8 polymer as a substrate, these microneedles are less fragile than the traditional ones made from silicon. Other features such as transparency and biocompatibility, currently under study, makes them promising candidates for implants, treatments and other neuromedical applications. CSIC and Ikerlan are seeking biomedical device manufacturers interested in co-developing and carrying commercial exploitation.
