A laboratory from the Institute ‘Eduardo Torroja’ obtains another ENAC certification

The CSIC’s Institute ‘Eduardo Torroja’ in Madrid has obtained a new certification from the Spanish certification body ENAC for essays and calibration of building materials.

Partial view of the laboratory facilities (CSIC)This certification, which follows the principles of the UNE-EN ISO /IEC 17025 standard, certifies the capacity of the laboratory of the Institute for testing building elements and construction enclosures, as well as pipelines and accessories of plastic and composite materials.

The laboratory has received the certification for 13 essays. Among them, there are essays for testing  double-metal side self-supporting sandwich panels, isolating thermal products, thermoplastic pipes and fiber-reinforced thermostable plastic pipes. The Laboratory offers information on a web page about these essays, an about equipment and facilities.

José María Chillón, a CSIC scientist and head of the laboratory says: “For us, as for any other European laboratory, this certification makes us to feel proud because it is a recognition that we are rigorous with the test procedures and we strictly apply the rules and regulations to accomplish the European standard”.
