The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the companies Hero and Ingenasa have successfully developed a new ELISA sensor for detecting milk in food products.
The kit detects if a products contains beta-lacto globulin, the most abundant protein in milk and the most allergenic. Therefore beta- lacto globulin is a good indicator of milk presence.
Although the new sensor is not the first of its type, it is faster, easier to use and more precise than current methods.
