Tourism information improved for people with reduced personal mobility

Iplusd Innova and the CSIC’s Artificial Intelligence Research Institute will develop an intelligent platform that will put together all relevant touristic information for people with reduced mobility and autonomy.

The TAP project will develop an intelligent platform that will put together all relevant touristic information for people with reduced mobility and autonomy.TAP is a project developed by the company Iplusd Innova and the CSIC’s Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA). It is funded by the spanish Center for Technological and Industrial Developemnt (CDTI), which has qualified the project of “technologically outstanding”.

When looking for touristic information on the Internet to prepare a trip, information related to health and mobility is normally not included. This lack of information affects not just hotel or transport accessibility, but also accessibility in the broadest sense of the word (e.g. monuments, streets, natural parks) and health services available. The TAP project shall use artificial intelligence tools to make all this information available for people who need it in order to plan their holidays.

Led by the CSIC’s scientist Pere García, the project is aimed at creating a web platform that will use AI techniques and tools to offer users the required resources to access all touristic services (such as travel, accommodation, leisure, culture, Disability Support or medical services). These services will be offered under the principle of personalized attention as a mark of quality.

The intention is to solve the difficulties that people with reduced mobility or with limited personal autonomy usually find when trying to access touristic resources and services.

TAP project was announced in the TurisTIC forum that took place in Barcelona the past 21th of May, organized by Barcelona Digital technological centre.
