An incipient business project of scientists at the l’Institut de Microelectrònica de Barcelona has won the third prize in the Programa de Generació d’Idees competition. It is based on a device for the rapid and easy detection of Legionella.
The scientists Naroa Uria, Óscar Castillo and Francesc Xavier Muñoz, of the BioMEMs research group at the Institut de Microelectrònica de Barcelona (IMB-CNM) of the CSIC, have been awarded with the third prize in the Programa de Generació d’Idees competition, which is organized by the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the UAB Parc de Recerca.

The business project, called OnaSensLife, is a portable system for the easy and quick detection of the Legionella bacteria. The system includes all the processes of treatment and analysis of the sample in just one device. This new procedure is presently being patented.
